FAQ

Q: What is Amastha Awaleha traditionally used for?

A: It is an Ayurvedic herbal jam traditionally used as a lung tonic to support comfortable breathing, ease cough and throat irritation, and strengthen the body's natural defences. It is a wellness product and not a treatment for asthma, bronchitis, COPD, tuberculosis or any diagnosed respiratory condition.

Q: What does it contain? Does it contain minerals or sugar?

A: It is purely herbal with no minerals or bhasma. Per serving (1-2 teaspoonfuls) the pack's panel lists Vasa, Kantakari, Yashtimadhu and Khajoor (dates) 400 mg each, Dashmool, Bharangi, Kachoor, Tulsi and Mustak 200 mg each, and Pushkarmool, Bahera, Haldi, Bhumi Amla, Chitrak, Ghazban, Giloy, Lisoda and Babul chhal 100 mg each. The box says 'enriched with 26 botanical herbs'; the maker's website describes more than 30 herbs and also mentions saffron, Pippali and Kakrasingi. The panel does not state the sweetener, and this regular version is not sugar-free, so people with diabetes should choose the Sugar Free version or check with their doctor. Amastha Awaleha Sugar Free is sold as a separate listing.

Q: When should I see a doctor?

A: Breathlessness, wheezing, chest pain, a cough lasting more than two weeks, coughing blood, or high or persistent fever need medical evaluation and should not be managed with a herbal jam alone. Do not stop or replace any prescribed inhaler or medicine without your doctor's advice. Consult a doctor if you are pregnant or nursing. Keep out of reach of children.
